If you are looking for a new rewards credit card -- and you've caught on to the perks of paying your card balance in full each month -- the American Express Gold Card may be right for you.

With this card, you'll always earn one point per dollar you spend with no preset spending limit, and it also offers access to special Gold Card events and purchase protection on eligible items that are stolen or accidentally damaged for up to 90 days from the date of purchase.

Also, American Express is currently waiving the annual fee for the first year.
