Citibank is offering a deal now where new, first-time holders of its ThankYou Preferred Credit Card can earn 25,000 ThankYou Points. You'll receive those after charging $2,000 in purchases to the card within the first three months of owning it. Then you may redeem them for $250 in gift cards good at national merchants or save them to use for other rewards such as cash, travel, electronics and more.

Points are redeemable either by phone or online, and there is no expiration or maximum on them.

Other, ongoing opportunities to earn points also exist. You'll get one ThankYou Point for every dollar you spend on all purchases. You'll also accrue an Anniversary Bonus every year you're a card member. You'll garner 100 points for signing up for Account Online and another 100 for enrolling in paperless statements.

Another perk of this rewards credit card is that you won't pay an annual fee.
