Weekly List of Highest Rates and Yields on Online Bank Deals

The Savings Investor will post weekly a list of some of the highest yields available on FDIC-insured deposits. Restrictions and limitations (including geographical location) may apply so read through each bank’s web site carefully before opening an account.

Rate specials this week include:

10.00% APY from Affinity Bank on their savings account for kids only (applies to balances up to $500 and only California residents are eligible).

6.01% APY from Everbank on their introductory offer checking account ($1,500 minimum).

6.01% APY from First Clover Leaf Bank on their free Gold Leaf Checking account if qualifications met including 10 debit card transaction per statement cycle, one direct deposit or ACH auto debit, three online bill payments, and electronic delivery of statements

6.00% APY from FNBO Direct on their online savings account (no minimum balance).

6.00% APY from MidFirst Bank on their 7-year Callable CD. Requires branch visit in Oklahoma.

5.90% APY from KeyDirect on their 10-year CD. ($50,000 minimum). Yield drops to 5.85% for deposits below $50,000 but above $25,000.

5.70% APY from IndyMac Bank on their 5-month CD and 6-month CD. ($5,000 minimum).

5.67% APY from State Bank of India on their 6-month and 1-year CD. $95,000 minimum. Yield drops to 5.56% for deposits below $95,000 but over $50,000 and 5.46% for deposits below $50,000 but over $25,000.

5.65% APY from Countrywide Bank on their 1-year CD. ($10,000 minimum).

5.60% APY on variable rates CDs from New Dominion Bank who is offering CDs with an interest rate tied to the Wall Street Journal prime rate. The bank will adjust the rate on the CDs as the prime rate increases or decreases. Current rates are 1-year (5.50% APY), 18-month (5.55% APY), 2-year (5.60% APY), and 2.5-year (5.60% APY).

5.60% APY from Equity Bank on their 13-month CD. ($1,000 minimum).

5.60% APY from First National Bank on balances up to $25,000 in their Ultimate Checking account. ACH/Direct deposit and 15 monthly VISA check card transactions required.

5.60% APY from Liberty Pointe Bank on their 2-year and 3-year CDs. Only New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut residents are eligible to open an account.

5.56% APY from Zions Bank on their Deseret Money Market Account. ($50,000 minimum).

5.55% APY from Evergreen Private Bank on their 5-month CD ($10,000 minimum).

5.40% APY from Element Financial on their 18-month CD term ($5,000 minimum).

5.45% APY from IndyMac Bank on their 1-year “raise your rate” CD. Depositors have one time option to increase their CD rate to prevailing one year rate.($5,000 miniumum).

5.44% APY from Farmers State Bank on their 7-month CD term ($1,000 minimum).

5.41% APY from World Savings Bank on their 5-month CD term ($10,000 minimum).

5.40% APY from NetBank on their 18-month CD ($1,000 minimum).

5.36% APY from E-Loan Bank on their 18-month CD ($10,000 minimum).

5.30% APY from ING Direct on their Electric Orange checking with tiered yields of 5.30% (+$100,000), 5.25% ($50,000-$99,999), and 4.00% ($0-$49,999). This checking account from ING Direct is paperless with ING providing a platform to send money to any person or business via electric checks.

5.20% APY from Capital One Bank for Costco members on the Capital One money market account (20 basis points higher than the basic money market yield).
