HSBC PRESS RELEASE:

HSBC Finance Corporation’s card and retail services business is offering customers the opportunity to “go green” when they sign up to receive paperless billing statements for their HSBC card account. In addition, when cardmembers register their accounts for online access and/or elect to receive paperless statements, they’ll be entered into a sweepstakes to win a 2008 Saturn AURA Hybrid. The HSBC Simply Green Sweepstakes is a way of saying thank you to our customers for going green, and further leverages HSBC’s commitment to offer environmental-friendly products and services to its customers. Cardmembers will earn one sweepstakes entry when they register for Online Account Access and an additional two entries when they elect to receive paperless statements. Customers who are already enrolled in Online Account Access will automatically receive one entry and two additional automatic entries for being enrolled in paperless statement delivery. The Simply Green Sweepstakes runs from September 1 through November 17, 2008.

A random drawing will be held at the end of November from among all eligible entries received. The grand prize winner will receive a 2008 Saturn AURA Hybrid. Two second prize winners will receive energy efficient appliances valued at $10,000 from Best Buy®, and five third prize winners will receive $1,000 cash.

“By offering our customers the opportunity to receive paperless credit card statements, HSBC is helping support a sustainable environment,” said Patrick Burke, senior executive vice president and chief operating officer, card and retail services, for HSBC. “We are focused on business practices that help us build lasting relationships with our customers while positively contributing to the environment.”
